인류세 시대의 실존과 환경교육:가브리엘의 신실재론이 생태 시민성에 주는 시사점

오늘날 뉴미디어의 확산에 따른 자본주의의 가속화와 상대주의의 만연, 팬데믹과 같은 불확실한 현상의 증가 이면에는 기후위기가 있다. 이와 관련된 인간의 절멸, 타자성, 거대사물, 취약성, 붕괴와 같은 담론이 주목받게 됨에 따라 환경교육에 대한 철학적 논의가 요청되고 있다. 인간중심적 세계상의 변경을 요청하는 가브리엘의 신실재론은 생태 시민성에 주목하는 환경교육의 철학적 자원이다. 가브리엘의 의미장과 다원주의는 생태적 형평성이라는 철학적 논의를 심화한다. 가브리엘의 의미장은 우리가 사물과 사건, 관념의 존재 자체를 알 수 있다고 보며 다원주의는 우리가 때로 오류에 빠질 수 있지만 이를 객관화하는 과정을 통해 참을 얻을 수 있다고 본다. 가브리엘의 신실재론은 세대와 지역을 넘어 종(種)의 형평성을 추구하는 생태 시민성과 공명하면서 기후위기 문제를 과학적 지식으로 해결하려는 경향에 맞선다. 우리는 그의 논의를 바탕으로 생태 시민성 개념을 북극곰, 투발루, 미래세대의 삶은 생태라는 의미장에서 나타나며, 생태에 대한 오류가능성은 환경교육을 통해 바로잡을 수 있다고 이해할 수 있다. 가브리엘의 논의는 인간사회 중심의 가치관을 지구 자체로 확대하는 시각을 제공하는 동시에 생태 시민성 중심의 환경교육의 가능성을 제공한다.
Abstract
Today, behind the acceleration of capitalism due to the spread of new media, the spread of relativism, and the increase in uncertain phenomena such as pandemics, there is a climate crisis. As related discourses such as human extinction, otherness, large objects, vulnerability, and collapse receive attention, philosophical discussions on environmental education are being requested. Gabriel's new realism, which calls for changes in the human-centered world, is a philosophical resource for environmental education that focuses on ecological citizenship. Gabriel's field of meaning and pluralism deepens the philosophical discussion of ecological equity. Gabriel's field of meaning believes that we can know the existence of objects, events, and ideas, and pluralism believes that although we may sometimes fall into errors, we can obtain truth through the process of objectifying them. Gabriel's new realism resonates with ecological citizenship, which seeks equity across generations and regions, and counters the tendency to solve the climate crisis problem with scientific knowledge. Gabriel's discussion provides a perspective that expands human society-centered values to the Earth itself and simultaneously makes us think about the meaning of environmental education centered on ecological citizenship.
