Abstract

This study conducted an empirical analysis to recognize the importance of museum VR in the rapidly changing digital environment and to find a way to develop VR content in the Natural History Museum. To this end, a total of six natural history museums at home and abroad where the VR system was established were selected as the subjects of the study, and HMD-based virtual experience data were collected for about six months from 52 elementary school students and parents in the metropolitan area. As a result of the study, digital technology is a key medium of immersive exhibitions, and domestic and international realistic media exhibitions show common efforts to maximize visitor communication by improving accessibility and providing immersive learning experiences. As a result of the study, it was found that immersive exhibition hall immersion positively affects user experience, especially "concentration" has the greatest influence (β=0.745), and "real sense" also has a significant effect (β=0.266). In addition, realistic exhibition hall immersion has a significant positive effect on continuous use intention, of which 'real feeling' had the greatest influence (β=0.480), followed by 'visual quality' and 'concentration'. This empirically confirmed that 'concentration' and 'real feeling' are key factors in user experience and continuous use intention. In conclusion, it suggests that when developing immersive content, it is necessary to comprehensively consider strengthening 'concentration' for immediate satisfaction and 'real sense' for continuous use. However, since this study has limitations limited to samples of specific areas in the metropolitan area, it is necessary to expand the scope of the study to various regions and population groups in subsequent studies.
