Abstract

Discrete trial teaching(DTT) is one of the most widely used instructional strategies for individuals with autism spectrum disorders based on the applied behavior analysis. DTT as well as applied behavior analysis has been well recognized as evidence-based interventions for children and youth with autism spectrum disorders and being under discussions in terms of practical methodology in educational settings. The Purpose of this study was to provide a synthesis of abroad research studies published in the last ten years(2002-2011) on DTT for children and youth with autism spectrum disorders. In this review, 26 studies were included based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, of which 10 examined the child outcome, 13 staff training, and 3 both. Therefore, the result was analyzed in two aspects, child outcomes and staff variables. From the result of this study, implications for educational practice and suggestions for the future research in Korea were discussed.
