Abstract
This study analyses the labor processes in which permanent part-time women workers are experiencing alienation in 7 workplaces in Korea. Park Geun-hye government has promoted the policy that creates employment opportunities by permanent part-time jobs since 2013. In the feminist studies part-time work has been considered as controversial issue or a dilemma since the women workers who occupy the part-time job tend to express satisfaction despite of low wage, lack of training and career development opportunities. This study has done focus group interviews with permanent part-time women workers and in-depth interviews with their managers. The result of this study reveals that part-time women workers suffer from low income, extra work, and no promotion. Though they have accepted their company’s management practice or showed a passive consent for it, part-time women workers have been marginalized in the organizations. Thus we can identify the effect of the policy which has been something negative to women workers and gender equality in organizations.
