본 연구는 저시력 학생 부모들의 저시력과 부모교육 프로그램에 대한 인식을 살펴보기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 86명의 저시력 자녀를 둔 부모를 대상으로 설문 조사를 한 결과 저시력 자녀의 부모들은 저시력에 대한 기본적인 지식은 갖추고 있었으나 시기능, 시효율성 등에 대해서는 잘 알지 못하였고 저시력과 환경과의 관계 등에 대해 명확히 인식하지 못하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 전문가에 의한 강연회 방식의 부모교육을 가장 선호하는 것으로 나타났으며 실제 이루어지는 것보다 자주, 강의형식 이외에 실습형태의 부모교육을 받고 싶다는 의견이 제시되었다. 가장 교육받고 싶은 관심분야는 권리ㆍ진로ㆍ복지에 관한 내용이라고 응답하였고 특히 고등교육, 직업교육에 관한 내용에 관심을 보였다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 장애 영역별 특성과 요구에 맞춰 다양한 부모교육 프로그램의 개발이 시급함을 언급하면서 저시력 학생의 부모를 위한 부모교육 프로그램 개발 시 고려할 만한 특성을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the perceptions of parents who have children with low vision about parent education programs. The 86 parents who have a child with low vision participated in the study and answered about their knowledge about low vision, perceptions about parent education programs. From the study the researcher found that most of the low vision children’s parents didn’t know about sight function and sight effectiveness although most of them knew about low vision itself. Also parents wanted to be educated by professors, professional therapists as well as other professionals depends on the topics of programs. Parents revealed that they needed more practical programs more often than current situations. They also reported that they wanted to learn about rights, transition, and welfare as well as study methods and early educations for their children. Based on that findings, further implications were suggested to improve the quality of parent education programs for various disabilities, especially for low vision.
