자기관리를 통한 중심축반응훈련이 자폐아동의 사회적 행동 개선과 반응 일반화에 미치는 효과

중심축반응훈련이란 핵심적인 반응 기술을 익히게 하여 더 광범위한 행동들로 긍정적 변화를 유도하는 방법으로 복합적 행동문제를 가진 자폐아동의 지도에 효과가 입증되어 왔다. 본 연구는 중심축반응훈련 이론의 원리를 기초로 대화를 방해하는 반복적인 행동을 개선하여 자폐아동의 대화 유지 기능을 향상시키는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 대상인 2명의 자폐아동의 대화 유지에 장애가 되는 중심축 행동은 눈응시 회피와 의식화(ritualistic)된 과도한 질문이었다. 자기관리 기법을 적용하여 우선 대상 아동들에게 문제행동을 인식시키고 대화 후에 아동 스스로 자신의 행동의 적절성을 평가하고 기록하는 훈련을 실시하였다. 중재와 행동 변화 간의 기능적 관계를 증명하기 위해 A-B-A-B' 반전설계를 적용하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기관리 기법을 사용한 중심축반응훈련은 언어적 의식성을 감소시켰다. 둘째, 자기관리 기법을 사용한 중심축반응훈련은 눈응시 행동을 증가시켰다. 셋째, 언어적 의식성과 눈응시 행동의 개선은 대화 유지를 구성하는 행동 변인인 질문에 대한 언어적 반응과 요구에 대한 행동적 반응 그리고 시작하기를 증가시켰다. 중재를 하지 않았던 대화 유지 관련 행동들이 동반 향상되는 연구결과를 통해 중심축반응훈련의 반응 일반화 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 자폐아동의 대화 활동에 있어 선행되어야 할 중심행동 변인을 확인하고 중심행동의 지도에 효과적인 방법과 지도를 통해 기대할 수 있는 기타 행동 변화에 대한 이해를 제공한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Pivotal Response Training(PRT) on social behaviors and response generalization. The subjects were two children with autistic disorder. This study used self-management program to improve pivotal behaviors. In order to demonstrate the effect of self-management program, reversal design(ABAB') was employed. The results of a reversal design showed that the children's treated social behaviors improved rapidly and that there were generalized changes in untreated conversational behaviors. The study found that there was a positive effect of implementing the PRT program on reducing ritualistics and on increasing eye gaze. In addition, this study showed that PRT was effective for improving the untreated behavior such as verbal response, behavioral response and initiations. The results indicated that the possibility of identifying pivotal response classes of social communicative behavior that may improve conversation skill. Implication for the instruction about children with autism are discussed.
