Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of PRT(pivotal response treatments) interventions for the children with autism spectrum disorders. For this purpose, we reviewed 22 articles that had been selected in the single subject research literature both domestically and abroad, and we analyzed the effect size of intervention by using the PND(Percentage of Nonoverlapping Data points). The results of this study are as follows. First, PRT interventions had been published in 1987 to 2011 and there are 22 articles on them in which 18 articles were researches abroad and 4 articles were domestic researches. The total number of subjects was 77 people, of whom 55 people were boys and 11 people were girls. Second, PRT interventions generally showed effective treatment on intervention phase and general phase. Third, results were different according to variables. PRT intervention effect size was very effective when intervention was made by the researchers and dependent variavles were reduction of disruptive behavior on children and parents accuracy in using the PRT procedures. Based on the results, the implication for education of PRT for the children with autism spectrum disorders was discussed, and further studies were suggested.
