어머니가 지각한 양육스트레스가 정서지능과 공감능력을 매개로 유아의 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향

초록

본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 양육스트레스와 유아 친사회적 행동과의 관계에서 어머니의 정서지능과 공감능력의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 대구, 경북지역 어린이집 및 유치원에 다니는 만 4세에서 만 6세 유아를 둔 어머니 290명의 자료를 분석했다. 자료 분석은 Pearson의 상관분석, Baron과 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 3단계 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육스트레스는 유아의 친사회적 행동, 어머니의 정서지능, 공감능력과 부적상관을 보였고, 어머니의 정서지능은 어머니의 공감능력, 유아의 친사회적 행동과 정적상관을 보였다. 어머니의 공감능력도 유아의 친사회적 행동과 정적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 어머니의 양육스트레스와 유아 친사회적 행동 간의 관계에서 어머니의 정서지능과 공감능력은 완전매개변수로서 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 유아의 친사회적 행동을 증진시키기 위하여 어머니의 양육스트레스는 낮추고, 어머니의 정서지능과 공감능력은 높이는 것이 중요하다.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effects of mother’s emotional intelligence and empathy ability in the relation between parenting stress and children’s prosocial behavior. The mothers of 290 children who were attending kindergartens or day-care centers located in Dae-gu or Kyungbuk province participated in this study. The statistical analysis program(SPSS) was used for analyzing the collected data from the research in correlation analysis. To examine mediating effects of mother’s emotional intelligence and empathy ability in the relation between parenting stress and children’s prosocial behavior, Baron and Kenny(1986) model was used. The results of study were as follows. First, the mother’s parenting stress was negatively associated with the children’s prosocial behavior, mother’s emotional intelligence, and empathy ability. The mother’s emotional intelligence and empathy ability were positively associated with children’s prosocial behavior. Second, within the relationship between the parenting stress and children’s prosocial behavior, a mother’s emotional intelligence and empathy ability functioned as a complete parameter. To sum up, the higher the level of parenting stress, the lower the level of children’s prosocial behavior and the higher mother’s emotional intelligence and empathy ability, the higher children’s prosocial behavior. These results indicate that it is necessary to provide the mother’s who are suffering parenting stress with interventions designed to raise their level of emotional intelligence and empathy ability.
