초록

본 연구는 어머니의 정서표현 수용태도가 유아의 사회적 유능성에 미치는 영향에서 어머니와 자녀간 역기능적 상호작용 및 유아의 정서지능의 매개효과를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 서울, 경기도 지역의 만 4∼5세 유아와 그들의 어머니 132명을 대상으로 하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS PROCESS macro v3.5를 사용하여 경로분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 어머니의 정서표현 수용태도는 직접적으로 유아의 사회적 유능성에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 어머니의 정서표현 수용태도는 어머니와 자녀간 역기능적 상호작용과 유아의 정서지능을 통해 유아의 사회적 유능성에 순차적으로 매개효과를 보였다. 이를 토대로 본 연구는 어머니의 정서적 수용태도를 시작으로 자녀와의 긍정적인 상호작용 및 관계를 개선하고 궁극적으로 유아의 정서·사회적 유능성을 증진시키는 부모교육 프로그램을 개발에 중요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.

Abstract

This study examined the effects the mothers’ attitude toward children’s emotional expression have on the social competence, mediated by dysfunctional interactions arisen in a mother-child relationship and the emotional intelligence. The sample consists of 132 children (4-5 years old) and their mothers recruited from daycare centers and kindergartens located in Seoul and the nearby province. Data was gathered by questionnaires whereby mothers self-reported and analyzed by path analysis, using SPSS PROCESS macro v3.5. The results of this research were as follows: 1) The mothers’ attitude toward their children’s emotional expression did not indicate a significant, direct effect on the social competence: 2) The mothers’ attitude toward the children’s emotional expression, however, had a significant, indirect effect on the social competence, mediated by dysfunctional interactions in the mother-child relationship and the emotional intelligence, resulting in a full mediation effect. Based on these results, we hope to provide basic knowledge on which parent education programs can build to enhance the mothers’ attitude fostering emotional acceptance of their children’s emotional expressions, ultimately promoting the children’s emotional and social capabilities.
