성경에서 오늘날의 동성애를 다룰 때 문화적 차이를 알아야 한다. 성경은 동성애를 육체적 혹은 정신적 질병의 차원으로 다루지 않는다. 성경에는 동성애 성향, 성적 취향, 고의성이 있는 동성애, 선천적으로 타고난 동성애, 음란한 동성애, 사랑을 기초로 한 동성애, 부부의 인연을 맺는 동성애 등에 관한내용을 치밀하게 구분하여 다루지도 않는다. 성경의 동성애는 주로 동성적인 성관계의 문제며 어디도 긍정적으로 묘사된 곳은 없다. 먼저 창세기 19장과 사사기 19장의 동성애는 일차적으로 나그네에 대한 성적 모욕과 관련이있으며, 레위기에서는 일그러진 종교적 성창의 문제에서 나타난 남창문제를다룬다. 성경에서 성행위가 허락되는 것은 창조질서에 따라 남자와 여자의혼인이란 문맥이며, 산상수훈은 성적인 마음의 문제이고 이를 엄하게 절제해야 함을 말한다. 로마서는 동성애적 성행위를 창조질서의 왜곡된 결과로나타난 현상이며 동시에 부끄러운 욕망의 노예로 묘사하는데, 이는 개인의선택이라기 보다는 인류의 보편적인 타락의 한 현상 중의 하나다.
Abstract
This paper tries to investigate the various text in the Old Testament, ancient Jewish, Hellenistic and Roman traditions, and New Testament concerning homosexuality. In ancient culture, there was no term such as homosexuality, homosexual tendency, or bi-sexuality. In the Bible, when the homosexuality is concerned, it is about sexual acting between same sex. They are all modern terms. This research shows some misunderstanding on the texts and find biblical principles for the homosexuality today. The major problem of the conservative anti-homosexual interpretation is to ignore the historical context of the biblical text. However, the queer theologian also ignore the strong ancient patriarchal tradition of the biblical world. We should not have double moral standard. Even heterosexual Christians also commit a lot of sin in sexaul misconduct including watching pornography, premarital sex and many of us are quite tolerant about it. The New Testament actually is more strict about the sexual behavior in Christian life and, does not accept any sexual sin. Gospel traditions allow sex only within a committed marital relationship. The New Testament does not condom sinners, but required sinners to have faith in Jesus who accept sinners and repentance with warm love.
