본 연구는 ‘헤렘’ 전쟁기사는 과연 진멸만을 말하는가에 대한 하나의 답을 제공하는 것이다. 필자는 이 목적을 위해 여호수아 5-11장에 기록된 가나안 정복 기사가 무엇을 말하려고 하는지를 고찰했다. 이 고찰에서 필자는 라합 과 아간 그리고 여리고와 아이가 대비되고 기브온과 가나안 족속들이 대비 되고 있음을 발견했다. 이 발견에서 필자는 세 가지 주제를 주목했다. 첫째, 여리고와 아이 그리고 가나안 족속들이 전쟁이라는 방식을 통해 ‘헤렘’이 되 었다. 둘째, 라합과 기브온은 ‘헤렘’이 되지 않고 구원을 얻어 이스라엘 중에 거하였다. 셋째, 아간은 이스라엘 자손임에서 불구하고 하나님의 명령에 불 순종하여 ‘헤렘’이 되었다. 이 관찰을 통해 ‘헤렘’ 정복 기사는 하나님의 구 원과 심판을 강조하고 있다고 주장했다. 그 구원과 심판은 하나님의 사역에 대해 어떻게 반응하는가에 따라 나타난다. 필자는 결론적으로 ‘헤렘’ 전쟁기 사에서 발견되는 하나님의 구원과 심판의 원리가 신약에서도 같이 드러난다 고 주장했다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to provide an answer to the question of “Does the Herem wars narrative speak only of extermination?” For this purpose, I examined what the Canaanite conquest narrative in Joshua 5-11 intended to say. In this research I have found that Rahab, Achan, Jericho, and Ai are contrasted, and the Gibeon and Canaanites are contrasted. also I found three themes. First, Jericho, Ai, and the Canaanites is to be Herm through the way of war. Second, Rahab and Gibeon did not become herem, but were saved and dwelt in Israel. Third, Achan disobeyed the command of God, even though he was a descendant of Israel, and became Herem. I asserted that the Herem conquest narrative emphasizes God’s salvation and judgment. That salvation and judgment is manifested by how it responds to the ministry of God. I conclude that the principles of God’s salvation and judgment found in the War of the Harem are identical in the New Testament.
