필립 멜랑흐톤의 초기 예정론은 초판 신학주제집성(1521년)의 ‘자유선택’ 이라는 주제 가운데 나타나 있는 대로 결정론적이었다. 멜랑흐톤의 후기 예 정론에 나타나는 근본적 변화는 윤리적 변화라 할 수 있다. 하지만 멜랑흐톤 의 후기 저술들, 즉 로마서 주석(1540년) 그리고 1543년 판과 1555년 판 신학주제집성에서 그의 예정론의 주된 관심은 하나님의 백성을 위로하는 데 있었다. 멜랑흐톤의 후기 예정론에 나타나는 신인협동설적 견해는 예정 에서 복음의 역할에 대한 그의 강조와 관련해 이해할 수 있다. 멜랑흐톤은 택자들을 참된 교회와 동일시하며, 참된 교회를 복음을 가진 이들이라고 정 의한다. 따라서 하나님께서 받아들이시는 택자들은 복음을 받아들여 그리스 도를 믿는 이들이다. 예정을 복음의 수용과 결부시킴으로, 멜랑흐톤은 하나 님의 예정이 복음을 받아들이는 하나님의 백성을 위한 위로임을 보여주려 했다.
Abstract
Philip Melanchthon’s early doctrine of predestination is deterministic, as it is found in the locus of free choice in his first Loci communes (1521). And the radical change in Melanchthon’s later doctrine of predestination can be attributed to the ethical alteration. In Melanchthon’s later works (1540 Romans Commentary, 1543 Loci, and 1555 Loci), however, the pri- mary concern of the doctrine of predestination is the comfort of God’s people. The synergistic view, which is found in Melanchthon’s later doctrine of predestination, can be understood with relation to his emphasis on the role of the Gospel in predestination. Melanchthon identifies the elect with the true church, and he defines the true church as those who have the Gospel. Thus the elect God receives are those who accept the Gospel and believe in Christ. By relating predestination to the acceptance of the Gospel, Melanchthon wants to show that God’s predestination is the comfort for God’s people who accept the Gospel.
