골프는 현재 한국에서 계층간의 위화감 조성 문제로 비난의 시선이 있기는 하지만 가장 인기 있는 스포츠 중의 하나이다. 본 연구는 왜 한국인들이 골프에 그토록 매료 되는가?에 대한 분석이다. 연구를 위해 독일체육협회의 스포츠에 대한 정의와 현상학적 연구법이 이용 되었다. 본 연구는 경쟁(competition), 개인주의(individualism), 도전(challenge), 비즈니스(business), 내기(gambling), 운(fortune), 모방(imitation)과 신분상승(upgrade), 터부의 해소(solution of taboo), 호연지기(vast following spirit), 그리고 카타르시스(catharsis)로서의 골프적인 특성이 한국에서 사람들이 골프를 하는 목적과 이유의 정체성이라는 것을 규명할 수 있었다. 골프를 통해 한국인들은 스포츠 본질의 그 무엇이 아닌, 다른 어떤 것을 추구하고 있다는 것이다. 한국인이 그토록 골프에 매료되는 이유는 독특한 한국적 놀이문화와 함께 해석 되어야 한다.
Abstract
In Korea now, some people criticize playing golf for creating social incongruity. But the best sport is golf if Korean can do it. In this paper, we study why Koreans are fascinated by playing golf now. For this purpose, we apply the definition of German sports association as an experimental description and analysis of phenomenology. Through this study, the following conclusion were drawn; Golf in Korea has natural characteristics as competition, individualism, challenge, business, gambling, fortune, imitation & upgrade, solution of taboo, vast following spirit, and catharsis. Therefore, the reason of playing golf is not for the nature of sport. In Korea, identity of golf is not a sport as we know, it is the culture of physical play. Through the playing golf, Korean want to get other things which can't get the nature of sport. So, why Korean has a passion for playing golf is in the culture of physical play unique in Korea.
