Abstract
This is an approach related to the notion that pleasure is an activity and a ‘perfect activity’ (teleia energeia) from the 7th and 10th book of Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle. The value, type, and meaning of Aristotle’s pleasure depending on what activity it is. It is hard to evaluate moral values of pleasure, however, it is evaluated and regulated by the activity. Good or bad decided upon such activity makes the notion that ‘pleasure is good, the highest good, and the best life’. Pleasure is not completed because of the amount of pleasure, but it is completed only by the method of achieving it. Thinking activity is the most competed activity and most pleasurable activity. Also, activity does not provide the amount of pleasure, but it contains the whole pleasure within itself. Therefore, dance activities have the potential of pleasure. That is, it is acceptable to understand that dance art as a perfect activity, which uses physical activities to get away from impure pleasure, control and moderate such, and seeks the harmony of the body and the mind. Pleasure in dance exists in aesthetical world. Activity in aesthetical world is a harmonious mutual relationship where both emotion and reason coexist, and is the axis of senses and thoughts. Practicing the highest pleasure, as a perfect activity, and aesthetical pleasure in dance, which pursuits the practical happiness of physical sense and thoughts inside the aesthetical world, complete all activities of pure state. From the view that happiness is the highest good and a perfect excellence, pleasure is the highest good, and this explains that an artwork is the activity of the highest good, which displays the highest and perfect excellency of the pleasure in dance. At the end, activities through dance is a perfect and complete activity, pleasure is the activity of the highest good, in a sense that activities through dance proves its existence in dance, which uses the body as its medium.
