Abstract

This study started from the necessity to know Japan in depth and detail in order not to suffer from the historical pains again under the Imperial Japan. We had introduced lots of spiritual and material cultures including Buddhism and Confucianism to Japan. I was really curious to find the roots and sources of the surprising stride of Japan to a global superpower surpassing Korea and China. As an Investigation to look for the historical courses and causes beneath Japan's gigantic growth, this paper reached the following conclusions in sum: The so-called "shokun" (generals) and "samurai" (warriors or knights) have ruled Japan for about 700 years from the Kamakura Age to the Meiji Era. In particular, the samurai spirit has been educated to the public since the meiji Restoration. That's why it is the main current of Japan. Also, this samurai philosophy has been influenced by three doctrines, such as Courage Relationship Manners.
