Abstract

In this research, I have intended to examine closely about the introduction of the electronic protector being come to the fore as one of the plans for making Taekwondo competition to be continued as an lasting event of the Olympic games, and search for a growing course for the purpose of the globalization of Taekwondo. Recently, the development direction of Taekwondo competition due to the introduction of the electronic protector is mentioned in three varieties. First the introduction of the electronic protector may be of help in the activation of a Taekwondo gymnasium, secondly it is certainly necessary to maintain Taekwondo as an event of the Olympic games, finally it can contribute to raising ability for performance. All of three is an affirmative opinions. In the light of an examples of fencing events, it is urgently required that the introduction of the electronic protector for the sake of fairness in a judgement of Taekwondo competition. The development of the electronic protector, however, can be helpful in a definite part of securing fairness in sports for raising ability for performance of Taekwondo, but it is impossible to analyze the actions that human doing only by making use of machinery, and so it may be a disturbing factor in the training of Taekwondo as an action of a human nature which can embody most nicely the original tendency of the human being. That is a summary of the prudential opinions. Clearly, it is important to go with the current of the times which sports of being aid a high scientific technology overflows and to secure the fairness of the competitions, but when we are aware of Taekwondo is the sport as martial arts that human being doing, I have considered that it might be in need of a plan mixing a judgement of judge or referee like the present system, with the introduction of the electronic protector. Because fencing is the sports using a tool, it is possible to judge scientifically, but Taekwondo is the sports beginning free martial arts like a boxing, a scientific measuring method must be gone with side by side the judge's or referee's judgement. Especially, the matter of the fairness of the judgement of judge or referee must be advanced focusing on the bringing up of expert judges and referees through the reeducation of judges and referees.
