본 연구는 무도해석학 연구이다. 해석학은 원래 텍스트의 해석에서 출발했지만, 차후에는 해석과 관련된 자신의 이해와 행동이 어떻게 작동되는지에 관심을 갖는다. 기존 무도와 관련된 해석은 두 가지 관점을 보여준다. 첫째, 언어-분석적인 방법론에 근거한다. 둘째, 연구자의 관점에 따른 목적론적 방법에 근거한 해석이다. 이는 기존 무도 개념의 해석이 3인칭의 객관적인 분석에 초점을 맞춘 결과이다. 이러한 관점은 실질적으로 자신에게 어떻게 실천적으로 적용되어야 하는지를 설명하지 못한다. 우리가 무도를 이해하고 해석하는 것은 자신의 무도기술이나 인격완성에 실천적으로 적용되기 위함이다. 무도를 이해하고 해석하는 것과 그것을 통해 자신의 삶을 실제로 변화시키는 것은 다르기 때문이다. 물론 기존 무도와 관련된 개념의 해석에서 많은 것을 배울 수는 있다. 하지만 기존 연구는 구체적으로 무도의 해석을 통해 어떻게 이해하고 실천적으로 적용해야 하는지를 보여주지 못했다. 이러한 해결책으로 본 연구자는 자신의 실천적 방법을 실현할 수 있는 무도해석학의 새로운 이론체계가 필요함을 주장하고자 한다. 즉 무도해석학은 자기반성의 실천적 학(學)의 이론체계를 형성해야 한다.
Abstract
This paper researches hermeneutics of martial arts. Hermeneutics originally started from interpretation of text. Later it developed into interpretation on concerning how to operate understanding and action itself. The established interpretation of martial arts shows two specific directions according to various researchers’ point of view. First, it is based on a linguistic-analytic method. Second, it is based on a teleological method. In doing, so, researchers have also focused on objective interpretation from third view point. This however does not explain how the practitioners of martial arts should apply themselves and their knowledge. The reason to translate and understand martial arts is to seek and find meanings that can aid skill development of martial arts and cultivate practitioners. Although the established analysis relating to concept of martial arts is meaningful, it does not show the fact that martial arts should be used to understand and apply changes to a practitioners’ own attitude and behavior. To solve the problem, I suggest the study of hermeneutics of martial arts as a foundation of rationale for a practitioners’ practical method. The hermeneutics of martial arts should establish a theoretical system of self-reflection.
