『논어』에서의 ‘배려 실천’ 고찰

초록

이 논문은 서양 리더십과 Noddings의 관점으로『논어』에서의 배려 실천을 탐구하여 현대리더십교육에의 시사점을 얻는데 그 목적이 있다. 배려 실천을 나에 대한 배려와 남을 위한 배려로 구분하여, 그 실천원리 및 방법을 논의했다. 나에 대한 배려는 품성함양과 학문탐구를, 남을 위한 배려에 대해서는 대인관계와 커뮤니케이션을 기술했다. 나에 대한 배려 실천은 다음과 같이 정리된다. 첫째, 마음을 평안하게 조절하는 부동심, 안심하기, 거경 등이다. 둘째, 악을 줄이며 선을 확대하는'존양, 치심'의 방법이다. 셋째, 겸손을 실천하는 일이다. 넷째, 금지 내지는 규칙을 세워 실천하는 것이다. 다섯째, 중용의'정도'를 설정하여 걷는 일이다. 여섯째,‘호학’,'인이불발’등의 방법이 있다. 그 외에 망상, 편견, 자기중심성의 제거, 새로운 패러다임의 정립, 전체적 안목과 통찰력의 증진 등의 방법들에 의해 실천된다. 남을 위한 배려 실천은 다음과 같이 약술된다. 첫째, 효도와 우애의'효제','서'로 실천된다. 효도와 우애는 가족을'경'으로 대하는 일로 가능하다.'서'에는'추서','용서'의 방법이 있다. 둘째, 언행에 대한 관찰ㆍ성찰ㆍ수련ㆍ절제 등으로 실천되는'예'가 있다. 언행의 소박함, 신중함, 민첩함을 통해'예'가 계발된다. 셋째, 익자삼우와의 포섭과 교류이다. 넷째, 경청과 질문을 한다. 다섯째, 언행일치ㆍ선행기언ㆍ직간을 실천한다. 여섯째, 나눔과 베풂의'혜'를 실천한다.'혜'방식에는 정신적ㆍ물질적, 그리고 적극적ㆍ소극적 나눔과 베풂이 있다. 결론적으로, 리더십교육 관련해서 서양과 비교해서 차이가 있는 배려 실천의 개념ㆍ원리ㆍ방법을 추론할 수 있었다.

Abstract

The primary aim of this study is to define and interpret methods of the practice of caring. The content of『The Analects of Confucius(論語)』can be summarized with'elf-discipline of character and competence(修己)'and'improvement of human relations(治人)','Self-discipline of character and competence(修己)'is related with caring for me and'improvement of human relations(治人)'done with caring for others. From the side of intellect, emotion, and will, proper methods to practice caring for me is as in the following. First, emotions and mind is to be stabilized and worries and fears to be controlled. Second, mind is to retain nicely and to lessen the black-heartedness possibly. Also man should strive not to do the behavior of viciousness. Third, it is need to keep away arrogance and to practice humility without the attitude of self-centeredness. Fourth, it is to establish a rule or alert about things that should do and not do. Furthermore might happen to execute ways of elimination. Fifthly, it is to move toward the right path of the mean, namely the middle of the road. Sixthly, it is to search for learning that can realize truth, good, and beauty. From the side of human relations and communication, proper methods to practice caring for others is as in the following. First, it is to practice filial duty(孝), brotherliness(悌), forgiveness(恕) that care for people. Second, it is to enhance ability of caring through the practice of courtesy(禮) as external discipline, throwing away private greed. Third, it is to interact with a number of good people and to make friends, and form bonds with other beneficial humans. Fourth, it is to pursuit and practice listening and question as form of communication for caring. Fifthly, is to practice'giving(惠)' that stems from frugality without luxury.
