Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity of Korean Version of Repetitive Thinking Mode Questionnaire(RTMQ; Philippot et al., under review). A total of 440 adults participated in the survey and the data was randomly assigned to samples A and B. The exploratory factor analysis with sample A(n=210) suggested the four factor structure consisting of ‘Abstract Evaluative Repetitive Thinking(AERT)’, ‘Concrete Experimental Repetitive Thinking(CERT)’, ‘Creative Repetitive Thinking(CRT)’, and ‘Dendrite Repetitive Thinking(DRT)’. With sample B(n=230), the four factor structure was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis and reliability and concurrent validity were verified. The internal consistency of each subfactor was between .616-.818. As expected, AERT was positively correlated with rumination, worry, depression and anxiety, while being negatively correlated with emotional clarity. CERT and CRT showed reverse correlation with AERT. DRT and rumination showed positive correlation. Finally, the implications, limitations, and directions for future research were discussed.
