본 연구의 목적은 북한이탈주민의 균형적 시간관과 외상 후 성장의 관계에서 적극적 대처의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 만 19세 이상의 북한이탈주민 169명을 대상으로 외상 경험 질문지, 사건 충격 척도, 외상 후 성장 척도, 스트레스 대처전략 척도, 시간관 척도를 측정 도구로 사용하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 29.0과 PROCESS Macro ver.4.2를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 균형적 시간관과 적극적 대처 및 외상 후 성장 간에 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 균형적 시간관과 외상 후 성장 사이에서 적극적 대처는 부분 매개효과를 보였다. 셋째, 적극적 대처의 하위요인인 문제해결 중심 대처와 사회적 지지 추구 대처의 상대적 기여도를 확인하기 위하여 병렬매개 변인으로 설정하여 분석한 결과, 사회적 지지 추구 대처만이 통계적으로 유의미한 매개 경로로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 북한이탈주민의 균형적 시간관이 외상 후 성장에 긍정적으로 기여하며, 특히 적극적 대처를 매개로 할 때 그 관계가 명확하게 드러남을 시사한다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 학술적, 임상적 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of active coping on the relationship between balanced time perspective and post-traumatic growth (PTG) among North Korean defectors. Surveys were administered to 169 North Korean defectors aged 19 or older, using the Traumatic Experience and Event Trauma Scale, Korean Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory, Korean Coping Strategies Inventory, and Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory. Collected valid responses were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS Macro ver. 4.2. The results are as follows. First, balanced time perspective, active coping, and PTG showed significant positive correlations. Second, active coping partially mediated the relationship between balanced time perspective and PTG. Third, as a result of setting and analyzing the relative contribution of problem solving focused coping and social support-seeking coping, which are sub-factors of active coping, as a parallel mediating variable, only social support-seeking coping showed a statistically significant mediating effect. These results suggest that North Korean defectors’ balanced time perspective positively contributes to PTG, mediated by active coping. Based on these findings, academic and clinical implications were discussed.
