상실 경험 중년의 균형적 시간관, 의미재구성, 역경후 성장의 관계

초록

본 연구는 상실을 경험한 중년기 성인의 시간에 대한 균형적인 태도가 상실로 인해 무너진 삶의 의미 구조를 새롭게 재건하는 의미재구성 과정을 거쳐 역경후 성장에 기여하는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 상실을 경험하였으며 상실 경험 당시의 충격 및 고통이 심각했던 만 40-64세 중년기 성인 230명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, PROCESS Macro를 사용하여 매개모형을 검증하였다. 그 결과, 균형적 시간관과 역경후 성장의 관계에서 의미재구성의 매개효과가 유의하였다. 본 연구는 다양한 상실을 경험할 수 있는 중년을 대상으로 상실에 적응적으로 반응할 수 있도록 하는 개인 내적 자원을 확인하고 역경후 성장을 증진시킬 수 있는 기제를 탐색하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 중년기의 역경후 성장에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고, 중년기 성인이 상실을 딛고 역경후 성장에 이를 수 있도록 돕는 개입 방안을 마련하는 데 기여할 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine whether a balanced time perspective in middle-aged people who have experienced loss supports posttraumatic growth through meaning reconstructing. PROCESS Macro was used to analyze data from a survey of 230 middle-aged adults aged 40 to 64 who have experienced severe loss. The results showed that the mediating effect of meaning reconstruction was significant in the relationship between balanced time perspective and posttraumatic growth. This study shed light on a mechanism for enhancing posttraumatic growth for middle-aged adults who may have suffered a number of difference losses. The findings contribute to our understanding of posttraumatic growth in middle age and how to intervene to help middle-aged adults recover from loss and grow.
