Abstract
This study attempted to verify whether parental support has a moderating effect in the process by confirming the effect of college students' self-oriented and social imposition perfectionism on academic delay behavior through the mediation of academic self-handicapping strategy. To this end, a questionnaire was conducted on 243 college students, and the collected data were analyzed for moderated mediation effects using SPSS 29.0 and SPSS Process Macro. As a result, self-oriented perfectionism did not show a significant correlation with academic delay behavior, but social imposition perfectionism showed a significant correlation with academic delay behavior. At this time, it was found that academic self-practice completely mediated the relationship between self-oriented and social imposition perfectionism and academic delay behavior. In addition, in this path, parental support was found to control the mediating effect of academic self-handicapping strategy. When parental support was high, it was found that the mediating effect of self-oriented and social imposition perfectionism to academic delay behavior was strengthened through academic self-handicapping strategy, thereby increasing academic delay behavior. Based on these results, the significance and limitations of this study and suggestions for subsequent studies were discussed.
