본 연구는 중급상담자가 수퍼비전 관계 속에서 자율성 발달을 어떻게 경험하고 의미화하는지를 탐구하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 상담자 발달과 수퍼비전 관계의 복합적이고 다층적인 경험을 탐색할 수 있도록 예술기반 해석현상학적 분석을 적용하였으며, 상담경력 4년 이상 10년 미만의 중급상담자 3명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰와 미술작업을 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 수퍼비전 관계에서 자율성이 발달하는 경험은「초기 수용적 관계 속에서의 안정감과 긴장감」,「수퍼비전 관계에 대한 기대와 거리두기」,「자율성과 의존성의 갈등」,「수퍼비전 관계의 정서적 내면화와 자율성의 발휘」,「자기주도성과 통합적 자기화를 통한 정체성 확인」,「상호 구성적인 수퍼비전 관계와 평행과정」,「수직과 수평을 순환하며 확장되는 자율성」의 7개 상위주제로 도출되었다. 이를 바탕으로 중급상담자의 수퍼비전 관계에서의 자율성과 전문가 정체성 발달 경험의 의미를 논의하였으며, 본 연구의 학문적․실무적․방법론적 의의와 더불어 제한점, 그리고 향후 연구 및 제도적 실천을 위한 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study explored how Intermediate Counselors experience and make meaning of the development of autonomy within supervisory relationships. To this end, arts-based interpretative phenomenological analysis was applied to explore the complex, multilayered experiences of counselor development and supervisory relationships. Three intermediate counselors with 4 to 10 years of experience participated in in-depth interviews and art-making sessions for data collection and analysis. The analysis revealed seven superordinate themes capturing the lived experiences of developing autonomy within supervisory relationships: (1) Safety and tension in early supportive relationships, (2) Expectations and distancing in supervisory relationships, (3) Tension between autonomy and dependency, (4) The emotional internalization of supervisory relationships and the enactment of autonomy, (5) Affirming identity through self-direction and integrative self-authoring, (6) Co-constructed Supervisory Relationships and Parallel Processes, and (7) The Spiral Expansion of Autonomy Across Vertical and Horizontal Dimensions. Based on these findings, the study discussed the meaning of autonomy and professional identity development within supervisory relationships among intermediate counselors. It also presented the academic, practical, and methodological implications of the study, along with its limitations and suggestions for future research and institutional practice.
