A study on Lexico-semantic distinction of alMushurarak al-Lafẓī- focusing on views of Arabic linguists in the ancient and modern times

This paper aims to investigate the lexico-semantic distinction of alMushurarak al-Lafẓī focusing on views of ancient and modern Arabic linguists. Firstly, the definitions of homonymy and polysemy in Korean and Arabic dictionaries were examined. Then the terminological definition of alMushurarak al-Lafẓī and the subsequent views of ancient Arabic linguists were examined. Finally, the definition of al-Mushurarak al-Lafẓī by modern Arabic linguists and their lexico-semantic explanations were also examined. Using the methods outlined above, al-Mushurarak al-Lafẓī was compared with homonymy and polysemy. In conclusion, ancient and modern Arabic linguists do not clearly distinguish between the terminologies and features of homonymy and polysemy with respect to al-Mushurarak al-Lafẓī, making it a unique lexico-semantic distinction of Arabic.
