이 논문은 영화 <매트릭스 1>에 나타나는 자기 자신의 존재와 세계 물음이라는 주제를 하이데거의 기초존재론을 통해 해석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이 논문은 크게 3단계로 구성된다. 첫 장은 ‘나는 누구인가?’를 주제물음으로 한다. 먼저 『존재와 시간』에서 현존재의 ‘자기 물음’의 의미와 개시성으로서의 ‘진리’ 개념을 설명하고, 이 개념을 통해 네오가 ‘자신’의 존재와 ‘세계’를 문제 삼는다는 것이 어떤 의미인지 살피며, 매트릭스와 ‘주위세계’를 비교하면서매트릭스를 현존재를 일상성에서 구성하는 본질적 존재론적 구조인 ‘퇴락’의 세계로 해석하는 것이다. 이로써 가상과 현실의 경계가 모호하다는 것을 결론으로 내린다. 두 번째 장은 ‘나는 어떻게 살아갈 수 있는가?’를 주제로 진정한 자기 회복의 의미와 방법에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 먼저 사이퍼를 비본래적 실존자, 네오를 본래적 실존자로 구분하긴 하지만, 두 실존 방식은 존재론적으로 모순된 실존 방식이 아니므로, 올바름이나 바람직하지 못함이란 도덕적 기준으로구분되는 것이 아님을 밝히고자 한다. 그리고 근본기분과 양심 개념 등을 해명하면서, 진정한 자기 선택의 가능성이 현존재에 잠재적으로 항상 개시되어 있음을 논의하고, 이로써 네오의 존재 가능성을 운명론이나 자유의지론으로 해석하는 입장을 거부할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주고자 한다. 끝으로 ‘나는 어떤 삶을 살 필요가 있는가?’를 주제로 하이데거가 명료하게 지시하지 않은 본래성의내용과 방향을 가늠해 볼 것이다. 이러한 고찰은 이상적인 사회적 유대나 공동운명에 관한 영화의 메시지를 반영하게 된다.
Abstract
This treatise aims to interpret the messages of the film <Matrix 1> with the Fundamental-Ontology of Dasein especially on the issue of ‘self-existence’ and ‘the world’. This treatise has three parts. Concerning the topic of the first chapter: ‘Who am I?’ I will examine what the Self-Question(es geht um) and Truth(Erschlossenheit) in Sein und Zeit mean, ascertain what it means that Neo thinks of himself and the world in which he lives, and interpret ‘Matrix’ by comparison with Umwelt in the respective of ‘entanglement’(a essential-ontological structure which constructs Dasein in everdayness). This chapter concludes that the boundary of the matrix and real world is uncertain. The topic of second chapter is ‘How can I live?’ And here I will deliberate the meaning and method of the authentic self-restoration. I will draw a line between Neo(an authentic existence) and Cyper(an inauthentic existence) in advance but clarify what this division means. It is not that one of them is morally ‘right’ and the other is morally ‘wrong’, because two existential way is not ‘contradictory’ in ontological point of view. Also I argue that the possibility of the authentic self-choice is opening to Dasein potentially all the time, by clarification of the concepts of fundamental attunement and conscience, to have Neo’s possibility of the authentic existence prevented from being explained by the fatalism or the doctrine of free will. Finally, concerning the topic of ‘How I need to live’, this paper will concretize the content of authenticity which Heidegger did not give a definite answer, investigating the axiological undertone in his discussion about authenticity and inauthenticity existence. This endeavor reflects the messages of an ideal social tie or a community bound together by a common destiny, which were presented in the film.
