토마 피케티가 『21세기 자본』에서 밝히듯이 현재 세계적으로 불평등 수준은 프랑스 대혁명 직전의 수준에 필적할 정도로 심각하며, 지난 300여년간 수십년의 예외기간을 제외하면 경제적 양극화는 계속 진행되어 왔다. 그럼에도 불구하고 마르크스의 ‘양극화 법칙’은 비판의 대상이 되는데, 이것은 그가 역사법칙을 결정론적으로 사고하고 서술하였기 때문이다. 마르크스의 역사이론에서 문제가 되는 것은 단순한 경제결정론이 아니라 목적론이다. 마르크스의 사고와 분석에는 반목적론적인 요소들, 측면들이 있지만 그것들은 에티엔 발리바르가 말하는 “목적론적 불변요소로서의 ‘역사의 주체’의 문제설정” 속에서 항상 억압되었다. 루이 알튀세르는 『마르크스를 위하여』와 『『자본』을 읽자』에서 ‘과잉결정’ 개념을 도입하여 마르크스의 역사변증법을 탈목적론화하려 했지만, 엥겔스가 정식화한 ‘경제에 의한 최종심급에서의 결정’의 원리를 기각하지 못함으로써 이론적 궁지에 빠진다. 후에 그는 ‘재생산의 관점’에서 토대와 상부구조를 중첩시킴으로써, 이어 관념을 장소론 내부와 외부에 ‘이중으로 기입’하는 독창적인 장소론을 제시함으로써 마르크스의 ‘토대-상부구조’의 도식과 ‘경제적 토대에 의한 최종심급에서의 결정’의 원리를 기각하고, 마르크스의 사회구성체론을 탈구축한다. 이어 발리바르는 보편적 적대의 복수성(複數性)과 적대들의 과잉결정을 사고함으로써 마르크스의 역사적 유물론을 탈구축한다. 이를 바탕으로 하여 그는 보편적인 소유 및 영유, 프롤레타리아 국제주의를 넘어서는 확장된 국제주의, 반폭력, 인간학적 차이들의 문명화‧공유화로서 정의되는 새로운 공산주의 상을 제시한다.
Abstract
As the explanation of Marx on “the law of the tendency of the rate of profit to fall(LTRPF)” presented in the Part Ⅲ of Capital Volume Ⅲ shows, Marx's notion of historical law is problematic. For him every historical law is “law of tendency” and has internal contradictions. However, Marx could not sustain his proposition of the inherence of practice in the theory in the case of LTRPF and presented the law as a pseudo-empirical scientific law. This reveals the profound vacillation and the internal contradictions inherent in his theorization of the transition of capitalism to communism. Louis Althusser tried to deconstruct Marx's evolutionary and economistic theory of the structure and the transformation of “social formation” so as to purify it from any kind of teleology. As his project to reformulate the “Historical Materialism” proceeds, he realized the that marxian principle of “determination in the last instance by economy” cannot not be sustained. His project to reformulate marxist historical science did not succeed but it opened the way to reconstruct materialist and anti-teleological theory of history and post-marxist communism.
