연구목적: 종교적 의식에서 시작한 하회별신굿 탈놀이의 제의성이 현대에 와서는 어떠한 의미로 연희되어지고 있는가를 살펴봄으로써 현대사회에서의 전통문화 계승이 갖는 예술적인 가치를 도출하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 연구방법: 전통문화에 관련된 제의성의 개념과 하회별신굿 탈놀이에 관련된 문헌 중심의 연구들을 분석하고 하회별신굿의 공연형식에 대한 내용분석을 통해서 제의성의 현대적 의미 변화를 도출하는 방식으로 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 연구결과: 첫째, 하회별신굿 탈놀이 제의성의 예술적인 의미는 공연이라는 형식으로 연희되어진다는 점과 관객과의 상호작용을 통해서 전통문화 속의 제의적 성격을 경험할 수 있도록 유도하는 인터렉티브 체험으로서 연희 성격이 변화되었다는 점을 통해서 예술이 갖는 소통으로서의 의미를 갖는다고 할 수 있다. 둘째, 하회별신굿 탈놀이 제의성은 연희를 수행하는 과정에서 그 지역의 사회통합과 지역의 문화적 특성을 보존하는 계기를 마련한다. 따라서 하회별신굿 탈놀이 자체에 포함되어진 벽사의식춤과 각 장에 내포된 종교적인 상징성 등을 통해서 전통문화 속의 제의성은 이제 그 지역민의 고유한 문화적 의식으로 재인식 되어지게 된다. 결론: 하회별신굿 탈놀이의 제의성은 그 고유한 종교적인 의미는 희미해지고 이제 공연성을 가지는 연희과정으로 전승되어지고 있으며 지역민의 사회통합의 기능까지도 가능하게 만들어주고 있다.
Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to derive the artistic value of the inheritance of traditional culture in modern society by examining the meaning of the ritual of the Hahoetal Nori, which has religious significance rooted in traditional culture, and how it is performed in today’s context. Methods: This study aims to analyze the concept of rituality related to traditional culture and literature centered on the Hahoe Byeolsingut mask dance. Result: First, the artistic meaning of the Hahoe Byeolsin Gut (Shamanistic ritual) mask dance in terms of rituality can be understood through its performance format and the way it changes into an interactive experience that allows the audience to engage with the ritualistic characteristics of traditional culture. Second, the ritualistic nature of the Hahoe Byeolsin Gut mask dance lays the groundwork for social integration within the community and helps preserve the cultural characteristics of the region during its performance process. Conclusion: The ritual significance of the Hahoe Byeolsin Gut Tal Nori has diminished in its unique religious meaning and is now being transmitted as a performance process, which is also capable of functioning as a means of social integration for the local community.
