해외 및 외국인 直接投資가 한국 企業投資에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 1981～2006년 기간의 기업 패널 자료를 이용하여 외환위기 이후 낮아지고 있는 투자율의 원인에 전통적인 재무변수의 역할 이외에 외국인 및 해외 직접투자가 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는지를 실증분석 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 전체기업을 대상으로 하는 경우 해외 직접투자가 국내기업의 투자에 부정적인 효과를 나타내는 것으로 나타났다. 외국인 직접투자는 재벌기업의 투자에 부정적인 효과를 보여주지만 비재벌기업의 투자에는 긍정적인 효과를 나타냈다. 반면, 해외 직접투자는 비재벌 기업투자에 부정적인 효과를 나타내지만 재벌기업 투자에는 유의한 효과를 나타내지 않는 것으로 추정되었다. 또한 고기술산업과 기타 기술산업, 재벌기업과 비재벌기업에 따라 외국인 직접투자와 해외 직접투자는 서로 다른 효과를 나타냈다. 따라서 정책기관에서도 획일화된 직접투자 정책보다는 다양한 형태의 직접투자 정책을 펼쳐야 할 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
Using firm-level panel data in Korea for the period 1981～2006, we investigate the causes of declining investment rate after the financial crisis. By using panel system GMM estimation, we found that outward FDI for whole enterprises shows a negative effect on firms' domestic investment. For chaebol and non-chabol, inward FDI has negative effect on chaebol's investment while it has positive effect on non-chaebol's one. And outward FDI has negative effect on non-chaebol's investment while there is no critical effect on chaebol's investment. In terms of high and low technology industries, there are different effects on chaebol and non-chaebol. Therefore government should make FDI policy more diversified, depending on firm size and industry characteristics.
