장서각 소장 군영 자료로 본 조선 후기 삼군영의 군사 복식 보급

Abstract

The Military Camps-Related Documents at the Jangseogak Archives of the Academy of Korean Studies have a variety of military information. And military clothing life culture is one of the main information among them. In this study, it is based on the Military offices’ Deung’rok Registers, which is a collection of materials from Jangseogak, to find out about the distribution of the Military Costumes in the Late Joseon Dynasty. The captain of Three Military Camps received and wore armor from the king, and the armor of high quality materials. From graded officials to civilian employees of military force wore a studded coat type armor called Dangap(緞甲) and a helmet with ear flaps. Soldiers from the Hun’ryeon Dogam were supplied with armor according to their role. Soldiers from the Eo’yeong-cheong and Geum’wi-yeong were supplied with armor according to their respective situations and locations of performance. The Minister and the Officer of military force of Three Military Camps were supplied with Goonbok(軍服) that was one of the military uniform from the late Joseon Dynasty. Different financial and operational situations of each Military Camps showed different standards for the payment of Goonbok(軍服). In Hun’ryeon Dogam, most soldiers were given military uniforms. However, Eo’yeong-cheong and Geum’wi-yeong provided military uniforms to soldiers participating in the parade. And the price of military uniforms offered by each soldier according to the rank he was escorted by was different. In the future, more diverse military clothing life culture should be studied based on Military Camps-Related Documents at the Jangseogak.
