Abstract
After the first confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported in China in December 2019, as of March 10, 2021, the number of confirmed cases worldwide has exceeded 117 million. In this study, the global distribution of COVID-19 infection probabilities that occurred widely in 214 countries empirically proved that the power law of Pareto index close to . In this study, we empirically derived that the COVID-19 infection probability distribution consists of a combination of a gamma growth rate distribution and a truncated logistic age distribution. This empirical analysis first estimated the distribution of the gamma growth rate of confirmed cases of infectious diseases at the global national level and the distribution of the truncated logistic age at which COVID-19 was present in each country. Second, the theoretical analysis of the distribution of infection probability derives a power law index that exactly matches the estimate directly estimated from the global distribution of COVID-19 confirmed cases confirmed on September 18. Lastly, the distribution of the size of existing COVID-19 cases in the U.S. () and the distribution of the size of cases of COVID-19 in this study () existed in . The results of this empirical analysis support the universality of the spread of COVID-19 infected diseases.
