Abstract
Introduction: This randomized aimed to compare the effects of high intensitity aerobic exercise vs high intensity resistance exercise on body fat and insulin resistance in obesity women. Methods: Women with obesity were randomly assigned to a 12-weeks supervised training program of high-intensity aerobic exercise and high-intensity resistance exercise. Body composition(body fat), 1-RM, VO2max, Insulin Resistance Measurement were measured at baseline and 12weeks. Results: Fifteen subjects exercised for an average of 5 sessions a week in the high aerobic exercise group, and 15 subjects exercised an average of 5 sessions a week in the high resistance exercise group. After completion of the training program, significant differences were observed between the HRE and HAE group in body fat(F=15.534, p<.000), and insulin resistance(F=15.221, p<.001). Conclusion: High-intensity resistance exercise are equally effective for reducing body fat and improving underlying insulin resistance among women with obesity.
