한국무용전공 대학생의 진로 선택 과정에 대한 질적 연구

Abstract

This study was conducted to explore the career guidance direction of Korean dance majors through an examination of the career decision process from admission to graduation. On this end, participatory observation was carried out on 8 students who are expected to graduate in the class of 2023. Participatory observation consisted of direct and indirect participation. As a result, it was found that the students entered the dance department due to both the influence of internal factors such as ‘interest’, ‘aptitude’, and ‘happiness’ and external factors such as ‘parental recommendation’ and ‘body correction’. In the case of students who decided to follow a career path related to Korean dance, ‘conversations with the major teacher’, ‘the time I spent as a dance major’, ‘a professional dance company’, and ‘a sense of mission as a dance teacher’ were determining factors. Circumstances related to ‘injuries’, ‘lack of diversity in professions related to Korean dance’, and ‘physical condition’ acted as obstacles, but the subjects were able to overcome these difficulties through ‘rest’ and ‘encouragement and support from those around them’. On the other hand, the reasons why dance students chose a path that was not related to their major were a ‘lack of diversity in the Korean dance profession’ and ‘economic’ factors. Lastly, we were able to see that the demand from the students in the Department of Dance and Korean Dance needed in terms of career guidance was confirmed as ‘expanding the variety and number of practical classes within the major’ and ‘securing a variety of career guidance support.’ Based on the results of these studies, it was proposed that a change to the perception of the operation of a systematic dance curriculum and career guidance of the students of Department of Dance and Korean Dance majors, and to prepare a foundation for practical dance education.
