박물관의 사회적 역할 증대를 위한 디지털 문화유산 활용 방안

Abstract

The spread of digital media is changing the world. A large part of the life is associated with digital media due to high reliance on information. In the field of cultural heritage, various efforts are being made to convert analogue object to digital cultural heritage by using digital technology. Digital cultural heritage is easy to keep and also has breakthrough scalability of distribution and utilization. By providing the space to go through and reinterpret the knowledge and experience of mankind based on the collections, a museum has become a lifelong education institution to contribute to the life of contemporary people. But, physical constraint of a museum with object interrupts convenient contact with visitor. No matter how great it is, the value of the collection can not be displayed properly without improving accessibility and interacting with user. A museum should be working to provide the situation of resulting in user-centered learning and flow through increasing the chance for communication and exchange with user. Adapting digital technology is a great way for a museum to overcome the physical limitation. Especially, taking advantage of digital cultural heritage in cyberspace provides a variety of possibilities for a museum. Not only access beyond time and space but also experience impossible in reality can be performed widely in cyberspace. Through two-way communication with user, the museum should make full use of digital cultural heritage for the opportunity of value creation which can extend the social interest.
