회심의 관점에서 본 내부자 운동

A Study on Insider Movement through the Biblical View of Conversion

초록

오늘날에도 기독교에 대한 박해는 진행형이다. 외적으로는 종교의 자유를 말하지만, 내부적으로는 다양한 방식으로 종교를 억압하고 있다. 특히 법령으로 기존의 종교에서 다른 종교로 개종시키기 위한 모든 활동을 금하는 법을 실행하고 있다. 이는 기독교 선교 억제를 목표로 하고 있다. 실제로 힌두교권, 이슬람권, 소승 불교권은 선교의 진입 장벽이 높다. 기독교에 대한 정치적이고 사회 구조적인 압박은 선교에 큰 어려움이 된다. 이러한 상황적 난관을 극복하기 위한 상황화(contextualization) 전략으로서 등장한 것이 ‘내부자 운동’(insider movement)이다. 내부자 운동은 사회적, 종교적 공동체 안에 머물면서 즉, 자기 공동체의 정체성을 유지하면서 그리스도의 주권과 권위를 인정하며 산다면 그것은 분명 그리스도를 믿는 것이라고 볼 수 있다는 주장이다. 이 운동을 통해서, 공동체로부터의 위협과 박해가 존재하는 지역에서는 위험에 덜 노출이 되며 지속해서 신앙생활을 할 수 있고, 더 나아가서 사회로부터 격리되지 않고서 오히려 사회를 변화시킬 수 있음을 전망한다. 그러나 내부자 운동에 대한 이러한 전제는 선교사들과 선교학자들 사이에서 논쟁이 되었다. 무엇보다, 과연 무슬림 공동체 안에서 이전과 동일한 이슬람의 신앙 형태를 취하면서도 자신을 그리스도인이라고 말할 수 있겠는가에 대한 정체성(identity)에 대한 질문이 논쟁의 핵심이 되어왔다. 지속해서 내부자 운동을 수행해야 하는지 아니면 신학적 수정이 필요한지에 대해서는 이후에도 계속 논의돼야 할 사항이다. 이러한 논의의 과정으로서 본 소고는 과연 기존의 신앙공동체에 머물러 있으면서 자신을 기독교인으로 인식하는 것이 타당한 것인가를 성경적 회심의 관점에서 보고 내부자 운동에 대해서 선교적으로 제안을 하고자 한다.

Abstract

Even today, persecution of Christianity is progressive. On the outside, they say freedom of religion, but inside they suppress religion in various ways. In particular, laws are enforced that prohibit all activities to convert existing religions from one religion to another by statute. It aims to curb Christian missionaries. In fact, Hinduism, Islam, and Hinayana Buddhism have high barriers to entry. Political and social pressures on Christianity are a major challenge to missionary work. It is the 'insider movement' that emerged as a contextualization strategy to overcome these difficulties. Insider Movement argues that if Christ's sovereignty and authority are recognized, he or she can maintain the identity of the community in which he or she is currently in. This is certainly a belief in Christ. It predicts that the threat and persecution from the community can be exposed to less risk, continue to practice faith, and can change society rather than be isolated from society through this movement. This premise of this movement, however, has become a debate between missionaries and missionaries. First of all, the question of identity has been at the nub of the debate as to whether the Muslim community can take the same form of religion as before and still call itself a Christian. It is a matter to be discussed whether this movement should be carried out continuously or whether it needs to be revised in theological method. As part of this discussion, I would like to look at the insider movement in terms of conversion, which is the essence of Christianity and the most obvious goal of missionary work. This appeal will evaluate IM through the conversion of bible. And I will conclude by trying to make a missional suggestion about IM.
