Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to reveal that the theology of the insider movement is based on inclusivism. The insider movement is a method of contextualizing Protestant missions in the Islamic world and is currently being used in the relevant mission field. The missiological basis of the insider movement focuses on acknowledging the continuity of truth between Christianity and other religions. Based on this continuity, similar claims, such as completion or fulfillment theory that share the same theological context, have already existed continuously in Protestant missions even before the Insider Movement. In this paper, it is revealed through previous research that the insider movement is not a new contextualized theology, but a new version of the theory of completion and fulfillment theory. Research on insider movements is being conducted from a supportive, sympathetic, and opposing perspective. Among them, the most concerning view of the theology of the in sider movement from a sympathetic and opposing perspective is that situations C5 and C6 in the spectrum of the insider movement are syncretistic. The problem raised in this paper is that researchers who maintain a sympathetic or opposing position broadly treat the insider movement as syncretism. And they are failing to clarify that the basis of insider movement theology is based on inclusivism based on the epistemology of the Roman Catholic Church. Although some theologians relate the reality of the insider movement to inclusivism, they do not specifically dissect the theology of the insider movement. This paper reveals how the insider movement’s Theism, Ecclesiol ogy, view of the Bible, and Soteriology are each based on the epistemology of inclusivism.
