Abstract
This study examines the application of text and the integration of grade-level systems in speech education at a theater school, aiming to propose a comprehensive speech education system. The speech education program of Russian theatre schools presented in this study is based on the speech training curriculum of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute in Moscow. Based on an analysis of the Russia Theater School’s speech education programs, the study explores the structure and characteristics of programs across different grade levels. The findings show that Russia’s speech education is organized into programs for acquiring speech techniques and for applying these techniques to textual materials. Each class includes grade-specific stage performances, which systematically enhance students’ adaptability, expressive skills, and prac tical application abilities. In addition, the speech programs are closely linked with acting programs, with text application becoming increasingly advanced in higher grades. The final stage of the ad vanced program features Russia’s proprietary curriculum, designed to foster specialized speech competencies. For effective implementation, the programs must be structured in stages that emphasize inter-stage connections and allow continuous, integrated practice in every class session. This study provides a model for systematic, grade-level speech education, offering practical im plications for theater training and contributing to the development of professional and sustainable speech education practices.
