본고의 목적은 중편 SF 『지저인(地底人) 오리거』와 『사건, 2732년!』을중심으로 오영민 SF의 서사적 특징과 그 의미를 규명하는 데 있다. 이를통해 본고는 다음의 두 가지 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 『지저인 오리거』에서는 로맨스와 모험 서사를 활용해 인간과 외계인의 공존 가능성을 열어놓았다. 이 작품은 로맨스와 모험 서사구조를 활용하면서 독자의 흥미를 높이는 전략을 취했다. 또한 인간과 외계인의 만남에서 선악의 경계를 무너뜨리면서 사랑, 공존, 사유하는 힘의중요성을 이야기한다. 외계인의 목소리는 지구의 유일한 종이 ‘인간’이라는 인식의 경계를 무너뜨리고, ‘인간’과 다양한 생물 종으로 그 스펙트럼을 확장하였다는 데 의미가 있다. 둘째, 『사건, 2732년!』에서는 추리와 모험 서사를 활용해 인간과 외계인의 불완전한 공존과 위험성을 경고한다. 이 작품은 근미래로 설정된 공간인 지구 전체가 외계인의 실험실이라는 점에서 디스토피아의 세계를구현한다. 나아가 인간이 주변부에서 중심을 바라보게 하는 사유의 유연성을 가질 때 외계인과의 공존이 가능할 수 있음을 역설적으로 이야기한다. 이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 오영민은 로맨스 서사와 추리 서사를 결합해 과학소설의 의미를 새롭게 구현했음을 알 수 있다. 두 작품은 과학소설로서의 서사구조를 갖추려 애썼고 나름대로 성과도 이루고 있다. 무엇보다 로맨스 서사와 추리 서사의 스토리 전략은 공존과 불완전한 공존 사이를 유영하며 인간의 선택지를 다양한 방향으로 열어놓았다는 데의미가 있다.
Abstract
T he purpose of this paper is to investigate the narrative characteristics and meaning of Oh Young-min SF, focusing on the SF “Subterranean Origer” and “Case, 2732!”. Through this, this paper was able to confirm the following two facts. First, in “Subterranean Origer,” the possibility of coexistence between humans and aliens was opened by utilizing romance and adventure narratives. This work took a strategy to increase the reader’s interest by utilizing the narrative structure of romance and adventure. It also talks about the importance of the power of love, coexistence, and thinking while breaking the boundaries of good and evil in the encounter between humans and aliens. The voice of alien is meaningful in that it broke the boundaries of the perception that Earth’s only species are ‘human’ and expanded its spectrum to ‘human’ and various other species. Second, “Case, 2732!” warns of the danger of incomplete coexistence between human and alien using mystery and adventure narratives. This work embodies the world of dystopia in that the entire Earth, a space set in the near future, is an alien laboratory. Furthermore, it paradoxically talks about the possibility of coexistence with alien when human have the flexibility of thinking to look at the center from the periphery. As discussed above, it can be seen that Oh Young-min newly realized the meaning of science fiction by combining romance narrative and mystery narrative. The two works tried to establish a narrative structure as a science novel and are achieving their own results. Above all, the story strategy of romance narrative and mystery narrative is meaningful in that it has opened human options in various directions by swimming between coexistence and incomplete coexistence
