청소년들이 문화예술동아리 활동에서 경험한 협동의 의미와 맥락: ‘나’에서 ‘우리’로 확장되는 발달의 지평

이 연구는 청소년들이 문화예술동아리 활동에서 경험한 협동의 의미와 맥락이 어떠한지 당사자의 사례를 중심으로 심도 있게 이해할 목적에서 수행되었다. 연구를 위해 2년 이상 문화예술동아리 활동에 참여한 청소년 4인을 연구참여자로 선정한 후 면담했고, 이들이 어떠한 맥락과 상황 속에서 협동 경험을 구성하는지 Merriam(2009)의 질적 사례연구 방식으로 탐구했다. 자료 분석은 사례 내 분석과 사례 간 분석의 이원화 전략에 따라 실시했으며, 개별적 고유성에 관한 이해를 토대로 10개의 하위범주와 4개의 상위범주를 발견해 모든 연구참여자의 협동 경험을 관통하여 공통된 의미를 밝혀냈다. 그중 상위범주는 ‘문화예술의 다른 관점으로 삐걱댔지만 한목소리로 힘 합친 동아리 팀원들’, ‘결과보다 화합 바라며 잦은 터덕댐에도 책임 있게 수행한 동아리 과업’, ‘마음 모아 모두의 문화예술 작품 만들어 꿈 향해 쌓아간 성취감’, ‘같은 결로 발달해가는 또래 손잡고 걸어간 문화예술가로의 성장의 길’로 드러났다. 또한, 중심주제는 ‘자잘한 갈등 조화로 바꾸며 공동의 목표 아래 문화예술 세계로 향해가는 우리들’과 같았다. 끝으로, 연구의 발견점에 바탕하여 청소년기 협동 촉진을 비롯해 문화예술동아리 활성화 및 진로역량 강화 등을 지원하기 위한 차원에서 제언했다.
Abstract
This study aimed to explore the meaning and context of collaboration experienced by adolescents in culture and arts clubs based on their own stories. Subjects included four adolescents who had participated for more than two years in cultural club activities. The participants were interviewed, and the contexts and circumstances of their experiences of collaboration were examined via Merriam’s (2009) qualitative case-study method. Data were analyzed following the dual strategy of within- and between-case analyses. Based on the understanding of individual uniqueness, 10 sub-categories and four super-categories were identified, revealing common meanings underlying all participants’ experiences of collegiality. The top categories included ‘club team members who had different perspectives on culture and arts, but united in one voice,’ ‘club tasks that were carried out responsibly despite frequent bumps and bruises with a desire for harmony rather than results,’ ‘the sense of accomplishment that we accumulated toward our dreams by creating cultural and artistic works for everyone,’ and ‘the path to becoming a cultural artist that we walked hand in hand with peers who developed in the same way.’ The central theme was expressed as, ‘We who turn small conflicts into harmony and move together toward the world of culture and the arts under a shared goal.’ Finally, based on the study’s findings, recommendations were made to support the development of collaboration in adolescence, revitalize culture and arts clubs, and strengthen career competencies.
