문화예술 진로 희망 청소년이 경험한 창작활동에 관한 내러티브 탐구

Narrative Inquiry into the Creative Acts of Adolescents Aspiring to Become Culture and Art Professionals

초록

문화예술가는 창작활동을 통해 자신을 표현하며 타인과 공감적으로 상호작용한다. 이는 문화예술가로서의 꿈을키우는 청소년의 경우에도 창작활동이 장래희망 실현을 비롯한 진로 발달에 중요하다는 점을 함축한다. 본 연구에서는문화예술 진로 희망 청소년이 경험한 창작활동을 내러티브 탐구 방식으로 이해하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 연구를위해 연구주제와 관련한 자신의 이야기를 풍부하게 나눌 수 있는 연구참여자 4인을 확보하였고, 개별면담과 초점집단면담으로 주된 자료를 수집했다. Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)의 제안에 따라 자료를 분석한 결과, 연구참여자들의 인식과경험은 “문화예술 자꾸 접할수록 새로움에 매료되는 창작의 세계”, “‘나’로 시작해서 어울림으로 완성하는 문화예술창작물”, “비판의 두려움에도 즐거워서 기꺼이 이어간 창작활동”, “자기확신으로 꿈의 가능성 채워가는 미래 문화예술전문가”라는 네 가지 범주로 구조화되었다. 즉, 이들이 살아낸 이야기에는, 과거의 작던 나를 진취적으로 표현하도록하며 꿈과 더불어 현재를 풍요롭게 밝히는 창작활동, 또래들과의 교류로 실제 작품을 만들어보면서 충만히 장래희망실현해 가는 창작활동, 타인의 평가를 두려워하면서도 즐기며 지속했던 창작활동, 교과과정의 울타리 넘어 세상으로적성과 재능이 확장되는 신비로운 창작활동 등의 다원적 의미가 담겨 있었다. 끝으로, 문화예술 진로 희망 청소년의흥미 발견과 역량 강화를 비롯해서 이들이 행복한 문화예술가로서 발달 및 성숙할 수 있도록 다체계 기반으로 제언하였다.

Abstract

Culture and art professionals express themselves and empathetically interact with others through creative acts. This suggests that creative acts can be crucial in shaping future life courses, such as the pursuit of desired career paths, for adolescents aspiring to become culture and art professionals. This study aims to understand the creative acts of adolescents aspiring to become culture and art professionals using a narrative inquiry approach. Four participants, who could extensively share their stories relevant to the study purpose, were recruited. Primary data were collected through individual and focus group interviews. Following Clandinin and Connelly (2000), participants’ perceptions and experiences were categorized into four themes: “the creative world that allowed one to get immersed in novelty with each exposure to culture and art”; “the culture and art creations that started with ‘i’ and ended in unity”; “the creative acts whose pleasure was stronger than the fear of criticism”; and “future culture and art professionals who fill the potential of dreams with self-affirmation.” The multifaceted meanings of participants’ life stories included: creative acts that proactively expressed the once-small self and simultaneously enriched present and future dreams; creative acts that fulfilled future visions through collaborative creations with peers; creative acts that persisted despite the fear of judgment; and remarkable creative acts that pushed one’s aptitudes and talents beyond the boundaries of an educational curriculum. Finally, this study recommends a multisystemic approach that guides aspiring adolescents to discover their interests, enhance their abilities, and mature into thriving culture and art professionals.
