Abstract

The purpose of this study is to derive the basic principles of cultural imagination based on the fundamental character and structure of the culture as a symbol system of mankind, First, we tried to analyze the structure of the work by deriving the basic principles based on the 'Sangmoseong' and the 'prototypical gesture' based on the dominant gesture of Durang, which is a fundamental characteristic of cultural imagination. Next, based on the symbolic system of Rothman 's prototypicality, the prototypical form of Durand, and the symbol of Kassirer, we proposed' prototypical symbol system 'as a source of cultural imagination. Finally, I applied the understanding of the type of cultural imagination to the poety appreciation education. Types of cultural imagination include dialectics of self and others, forward and reverse, inhomogenety and hybredity, interpenetration of nature and culture, centripetal force and centrigugal force. If this study is expanded, the research area of ​​cultural imagination will be enlarged, and efforts to develop methodical knowledge of poetry education based on it will become active.
