The research has a wider objective than just the evaluation of the legal framework; it considers the assessment of the legal reform as a step towards the final destination of full European integration. Accordingly, it has an ambition to serve as a modest contribution of the author in the process of legal harmonization with the EU.

Abstract

Equality is a fundamental value of a democratic and social state. This is a constitutional principle guaranteed by the main legal acts of the country and international treaties. With the aim to ensure a proper level of gender parity in politics, the EU has implemented a whole system of legal frameworks and policies for member states and states implementing the legal harmonization process. In Georgian legal reality, the implementation of gender equality policy was an important part of the harmonization process, as the issue was directly prescribed by the Agreement of Association among Georgian and EU and European Atomic Energy Union and their Member States. Accordingly, several main legal acts were adopted, where the Law of Georgia on Gender Equality, N2844, 26/03/2010 and State Conception of Georgia on Gender Equality should be highlighted. Respectively, the object of research is corresponding Georgian experience in terms of suitability with the fundamental human rights and it considers not only the existing legal framework, but the evolution of the legislative instruments and the steps passed in the process of implementing various reforms. The presented article project aims to assess the effectiveness of recent Georgian legal reforms and evaluate them through the prism of the proportionality test with the intention of revealing their strong and weak sides and perspectives in terms of successful application for the acting and expected challenges. The research has a wider objective than just the evaluation of the legal framework; it considers the assessment of the legal reform as a step towards the final destination of full European integration. Accordingly, it has an ambition to serve as a modest contribution of the author in the process of legal harmonization with the EU.
