해외투자기업의 국내 고용 및 매출 성과에 관한 연구 : 대구경북지역 중소제조업을 중심으로

대구․경북지역 중소기업의 해외직접투자는 수도권보다 적지만 수도권을 제외한 여타 지역보다 더 활발하다. 2017년에 해외직접투자를 신고한 대구․경북지역 기업은 전체 대비 14.38%로 충청권과 호남권보다 더 큰 비중을 자치했다. 본 연구는 해외직접투자를 수행한 대구․경북지역 중소기업이 투자하지 않은 중소기업에 비해 국내 고용 및 매출 측면에서 성과가 있는지를 살펴보았다. 2012년부터 2016년까지5년 동안 대구․경북지역 제조업 영위 중소기업의 자료를 균형패널로 구성하여 성과를 분석하였다. 대구․경북지역 중소기업 중 해외투자기업은 해외직접투자를 하지 않은 기업보다 기업규모가 큰편이며 고용인원도 많았다. 상관관계 분석 결과, 고용증가율과 해외직접투자변수 간에 10% 수준에서유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 하지만 매출액증가율과는 유의하지 않았다. 확률효과모형을 이용한 패널회귀분석 결과, 해외투자기업이 해외직접투자를 하지 않은 기업보다 고용은 9.9%p, 매출액은 6.3%p 더 증가하였음을 발견하였다. 본 분석은 해외직접투자를 수행한 대구․경북지역 중소제조기업이 해외직접투자를 통해 수출대체효과 및 역수입효과보다 수출유발효과를 가짐으로써 고용과 매출이 증가한다는 것을 보여주고 있다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the performance of outward FDI(foreign direct investment) on domestic employment and sales from 2012 to 2016. These FDI firms are manufacturing SMEs(small and medium-sized enterprises) in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. I adopt panel regression analysis with balanced panel data to control the unobserved heterogeneity and to get the efficient estimators. The results are summarized as follow. First. FDI firms are larger than non-FDI firms and have more employees. Second. the correlation between employment growth rate and the FDI dummy variable is positive at the 10% significance level. Third. the employment growth rate of FDI firms is 9.9%p higher than that of non-FDI firms and the sales growth rate of FDI firms is 6.3%p higher than that of non-FDI firms in panel regression analysis. The results of this analysis show that FDI SMEs with manufacturing business in Daegu and Gyeongbuk have the performance of employment and sales due to the export inducement effect of FDI.
