김춘수에게 있어 릴케의 영향이 직접적이고 명시적으로 그리고 집중적으로 나타나는 것은 1950년대이다. 1960대 이후 그는 의식적으로 릴케로부터 벗어나려고 한다. 그것은 관념으로부터 현상학적 관찰로 그리고 무의미시로의 전환 과정을 통해 나타난다. 그런데, 단계론적으로 보아 1960년대 이후 김춘수는 릴케를 벗어났다고 할 수 있겠지만 경향적으로 말하자면 릴케의 영향은 오히려 잠복하여 그의 시의식의 다른 부면에 확고하게 자리잡게 된다고 할 수 있다. 김춘수가 평생을 사로잡혔다고 고백한 바로 그 질문, “왜 나는 여기서 이러고 있는가?” 하는 질문은 그런 의미에서 릴케적 물음이라고 할 수 있다. 김춘수에게 릴케의 영향은 단계론적으로는 1950년대에 국한되고 집중된 것이었지만 경향적으로는 바로 정신적 외상 근처를 맴도는 존재론적 질문의 형태로 상주하는 하나의 구조로 자리잡게 되었다. 1991년에 「처용단장」을 완성하여 발표하고 이후 다시 의미의 세계로 귀환하며 『두이노의 비가』를 염두에 둔 『쉰 한 편의비가』(2002)를 쓸 수 있게 된 것은 릴케의 영향이 단계적인 것이면서 동시에 경향적인 것이었음을 단적으로 보여주는 것이었다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 김춘수에게 릴케는 요청이며 동시에 구조였다.
Abstract
It is notable that Kim Choon-soo's initiation as a poet can be explained under the deep influence of Rilke's works. Kim Choon-soo himself stated that he could be a poet owe to Rilke's works. Generally, his poems written in 1950s would be viewed by the terms, such as ‘phenomena and idea’, ‘poetic symbols’ often used to explain Rilke’s works. However, at the end of 1950s, Kim Choon-soo endeavored to turn his back to Rilke's works and their intensive influence. As a result, his poetic vision changed. He tried to express the vision of, namely, ‘phenomenological observation.’ It is usually argued that Kim Choon-soo's reception of Rilke's works can mainly be witnessed in his 1950s' poems. Nevertheless, we also need to closely examine his ‘anxiety of influence.’ Though the direct signs of Rilke's influence had diminished, it wasn't totally gone. It just lay perdu under poems written after 1960s. It returned as a form of certain question, “Why am I always wandering?” It was Kim Choon-soo's life-lasting question and it was derived from Rilke's vision of the sacred and secular. In the year of 1968, Kim Choon-soo started to write a 30-year-taking long poem, ‘Cheoyongdanchang.(처용단장)’ It gave a clear evidence that Rilke's influence on Kim Choon-soo was life-lasting.
