본 연구는 국제관계에 대한 다양한 접근법에 대해 비교 연구를 한 후에 공동체 접근법의 유용성을 보여준다. 공동체 접근법은 신속한 행동을 가능하기 때문에 현상 유지적인 국제체제 접근법과 국제사회 접근법과 비교해서 우위에 있다. 인류가 하나라는 인류 공동체 개념은 유사 이래 부침은 있지만 지속되었다. 국가와 민족주의가 근대 역사에서 대세를 이루었지만, 최근 인류 공동체의 중요성에 대한 재발견이 이루어지고 있다. 글로벌 공동체는 글로벌 위기에 대한 해결책으로서 유용성이 인정된다. 공동체 의식의 강화와 진정성 있는 대화를 통해서 글로벌 공동체 형성이 가능할 것이라고 본 연구는 주장한다.
Abstract
This study explores the use of a community approach to IR. In the midst of deepening global crises, traditional approaches to IR, represented by system approach and society approach, are proven to be incompetent in suggesting adequate solutions. This study appreciates community approach’s power to explain change as well as to facilitate collective action. The idea of world community has existed throughout the history of humankind. Global community is a version of world community in the age of globalization. This paper emphasizes the importance of common consciousness as the foundation of coming global community. This paper concludes that since community consciousness knows no boundary, global community can coexist with states.
