논자는 이 글에서 ‘공동체’ 개념을 재구성하고 있다. 논자는 서구 중심의 자유주의 대 공동체주의의 논쟁을 현실 사태의 변화에 의거해서 재해석하고 있다. 세계화는 지구를 하나의 단위로 재편하고 있다. 자본과 노동력, 상품과 서비스, 과학과 기술, 지식과 정보 등이 세계적으로 엮이고 소통되고 있다. 국가의 경계가 확장되고 있다. 개인, 가족, 지역, 사회, 국가의 단위에서 세계화가 진행 중이다. 개인이나 가족도 세계인으로, 지구촌 가족으로 변신 중이다. 이러한 시대에 걸맞게 새로운 공동체이론이 제시될 필요가 있다. 이 글에서 논자는 공동체 개념을 현 사태의 진행에 걸맞게 재해석하고 있다.
Abstract
The writer is restructuring the concept of ‘community’ in this article. The author reinterprets the western-centric controversy of liberalism versus communitarianism based on the changes in the actual situation. Globalization is reorganizing the earth into a unit. Capital and labor, goods and services, science and technology, knowledge and information are interconnected and communicated globally. The boundaries of the state are expanding. Globalization is underway in individual, family, local, social, and national units. Individuals and families are transforming into global citizens and global families. The new community theory needs to be presented in this age. In this article, the writer reinterprets the concept of community in line with the progress of the present situation.
