(Disability and Life Dynamics Panel)인 5차(2022년) 자료를 활용하고자 하며, 연구 대상은 만 50세 이상인 장애노인 2,570명 이다.
Abstract
This study examines the mediating effects of disability acceptance and self-esteem in the relationship between family strength and life satisfaction among older adults with disabilities. It further investigates whether there are significant differences in these pathways between two groups: those aging with disability and those experi- encing disability with aging. For this purpose, the study utilizes data from the 5th wave (2022) of the Disability and Life Dynamics Panel, established by the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute. The sample included 2,570 individuals aged 50 and older adults with disabilities. Structural equation modeling and mul- ti-group analysis were conducted using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results are as follows: First, family strength was found to have a significant positive effect on life satisfaction among older adults with disabilities. Second, disability acceptance and self-esteem partially mediated the relationship between family strength and life satisfaction. Third, the multi-group analysis revealed significant differences in the structural paths between the two groups. Specifically, the effect of disability accept- ance on self-esteem was stronger among those aging with disability, while the effect of disability acceptance on life satisfaction was stronger among those with disability due to aging. Based on these findings, the study suggests policy and practice im- plications for improving the quality of life of older adults with disabilities by considering the onset timing of disability.
