포퓰리즘의 정의는 어려운 것으로 정평이 나있다. 언 듯 보더라도 수십 가지의 정의와 특징들이 난무하는 실정이다. 본고는 이러한 정의들을 수집하고 분류해서 의사소통적으로 구분해 보려는 것이 목적이다. 이를 테면, 언어학의 시원으로 일컬어지는 플라톤의 언어에 관한 도구모델과 이를 차용하여 언어기능모델을 만들었던 뷜러의 발상, 그리고 이를 좀 더 확장했던 야콥슨의 언어기능 모델에 기대서 포퓰리즘의 정의와 특징을 정돈하는 것이다. 그래서 최종적으로 포퓰리즘의 정의 또는 특징 중에서 비범한 지도자를 필요로 하는 포퓰리즘의 정의를 감정표시기능에, 국민을 우선하고 추종자를 몰고 다닌다는 특징을 능동적 기능에, 포퓰리즘이 가진 모호한 성질은 메타언어적 기능에, 포퓰리즘의 비이데올로기적 성격은 시적기능에, 포퓰리즘이 언제나 혁명적 상황에 등장한다는 특징은 지시기능에 위치시켰다. 결론적으로: 본고는 기존에 제시된 기존에 등장했던 포퓰리즘의 정의들이나 특성들을 살펴본 후, 그들을 의사소통이론 모델에 안착시키는 것이 핵심목표이다. 다시 말해서, 새로운 포퓰리즘의 정의를 만들어내는 것이 아니라, 기존의 정의들을 체계적으로 분류하는 것이다.
Abstract
Populismus ist nicht zuletzt dank spektakulärer Wahlerfolge in aller Munde. Der Populismus ist nicht eigenständig, sondern bedient sich anderer, bestehender ideologische Rezepte: linker, rechter, rassistischer, neoliberaler, sozialistischer und anderer. Folglich sind populistische Bewegung oder Parteien links, rechts und sogar in der Mitte des politischen Spektrums zu finden. Deswegen kann man sagen, dass das Konzept ‘Populismus’ sehr vage ist. Aber selbst wenn das Thema vage oder mehrdeutig ist, sollte die Theorie des Umgangs mit dem Thema klar sein. Der Zweck dieser Arbeit ist es, die Definition des Populismus systematischer zu klären und die Bedeutungsqualitäten des Populismus zu kategorisieren. Dafür lieh ich mir ein Kommunikationsmodell von R. Jakobson, abgeleitet von Platons Organonmodell. Mit anderen Worten, jedes populistische Merkmal wurde Orten zugewiesen, die dem Sender, Nachricht, Empfänger, Kontext, Kontakt oder Kode entsprechen, der eine Komponente der Kommunikation ist.
