Abstract
This paper is to clarity that the core of the political philosophy of Sejong was the 'sharing'. Harmonious politics through balance is important not only in the past but also now, such balance and harmony can be realized by sharing. Eventually the social conditions of happiness are that of political sharing. These points are well evident in the organic reasons of the Eastern philosophy and the establishment of value system for life. To explore the historical practices of our ancestors for this, this paper looked into the sharing Sejong pursued in 『The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty(朝鮮王朝實錄)』. In order to implement the politics, Sejong the 4th King of the Joseon Dynasty took 'SaengSaengJiRak(生生之樂, living of pleasure)’ as a political motto, 'GongHyang(共享, enjoy together)’, the spirit of sharing was underlying. Sejong pursed wider sharing with targets of different from such as ideology, age, ethnicity, identity and community. To do this, he tried to go into their lives with putting down his invested rights. In his view, the power of advanced knowledge, culture, law and letters are shared without owning only some layers could make every people enjoy lively. The aim of national management of Sejong for this purpose was the society that sharing is in every day. In other words, he was seeking to non-exclusive happiness, citizens sharing together happiness. As the result, the Sejong dynasty tried to build a nation living together with 'GongHyang SaengSaengJiRak', this political philosophy was implemented hyperactive local welfare policies such as the creation of Hunminjeongeum. If we are aligned with the essence of the political and social happiness to pursue, the value of Sejong is very modern and necessary. Politics is to be understood not as the engineering but as the level of happiness, also the value and orientation equipped with politicians should be the same as this. The very typical is Sejong. Thus, this paper tried to investigate the life philosophy of a politician Sejong not showing the structure at the engineering level, but by focusing on how to realize the value of 'SaengSaeng'.
