초록
In this study, we evaluated the radiation exposure of patients and operators during transfemoralcerebral angiography (TFCA) performed at multi-directional angles using a bi-plane cerebrovascular angiographysystem, and, based on these findings, propose measures to reduce radiation exposure and enhance radiation safety inthe TFCA process. To evaluate the radiation exposure of patients and operator at various angles, the Bi-Plane AlluraXper FD 20/20 (Philips, Eindhoven, and Netherlands) was directed towards the Rando Man Phantom (Alderson Co,Australia). The Phantom was equipped with a RaySafei2 (Unfors Rasysafe, Bj̈rklundabacken, Sweden). If there wasa statistically significant difference between groups through ANOVA, a post-test was conducted through Scheffe’s post-analysis. A-Plane tube voltage and survey time PAE were −2.08 and −2.06% respectively, and in the case ofB-Plane, –2.39 and –2.26% respectively. Although overall analysis showed a statistically significant difference in AirKerma and DAP according to irradiation angle (F = 1416.51, p < 0.001), Scheffe’s post-hoc test revealed no significantdifferences between specific angles in the average values of Air Kerma and DAP.In this study, we evaluated the effectof changes in the irradiation angle on radiation exposure for patients and operators during TFCA performed witha bi-plane cerebrovascular angiography system. Although variations in the irradiation angle were not statisticallysignificant, the use of a shield significantly reduced the radiation exposure for both patients and operators.
Abstract
In this study, we evaluated the radiation exposure of patients and operators during transfemoralcerebral angiography (TFCA) performed at multi-directional angles using a bi-plane cerebrovascular angiographysystem, and, based on these findings, propose measures to reduce radiation exposure and enhance radiation safety inthe TFCA process.
