협동조합 자본조달 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 : 정보비대칭 관점에서

초록

본 연구는 협동조합 자본조달수단을 종합적으로 정리하고 해외 사례를 검토하여 국내 협동조합의 자본조달에 대한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구대상은 협동조합 자본조달수단인 조합원 차입금, 우선출자증권, 비분할 적립금과 협동조합 연대기금이다. 선행연구에 따르면 투자자와 기업 간 정보비대칭이 클수록 기업의 자본조달은 어려울 수 있고 자본비용도 높아진다. 그렇기 때문에 금융시장에서는 기업의 정보비대칭을 낮추기 위한 제도가 발전해왔다. 이러한 점은 협동조합의 자본조달에 시사하는 바가 있다. 해외 협동조합 자본조달수단을 분석하여 얻은 협동조합 자본조달 활성화를 위한 시사점으로 첫째, 협동조합과 내외부이해관계자 간 정보비대칭을 감소하는 방안을 마련해야 한다. 둘째, 협동조합 성장단계별로 정보비대칭을 고려한 자본조달수단을 제시할 수 있어야 한다. 셋째, 협동조합 특징을 고려한 제도의 보완과 지원이 필요하다. 이러한 시사점을 고려한다면 협동조합은 조합원의 필요를 충족시키고 민주적 통제를 유지하면서 자본조달을 원활히 할 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

This study aims to have implications for raising the capital of co-operatives by comprehensively introducing the means of financing co-operatives and reviewing cases. The research targets are member loans, preferred shares, and indivisible reserves as well as solidarity funds for co-operatives that act as favorable external investors. According to previous studies, if the information asymmetry between investors and a firm is large, it would be more difficult for the firm to raise capital, and its cost of capital is likely to be higher. Therefore, in the financial market, institutions have been developed to reduce the information asymmetry of companies. These institutions are applied to co-operatives in raising capital. The implications for revitalizing the financing of co-operatives from the cases of financing measures of foreign co-operatives are as follows: First, measures to reduce information asymmetry between co-operatives and stakeholders should be devised. Second, it is necessary to present ways of raising capital according to the extent of information asymmetry to each growth stage of co-operatives. Lastly, institutional supplementation and support that takes into account the characteristics of cooperatives are needed. Considering the implication, co-operatives will be able to raise funds better while meeting the needs of their members and maintaining democratic control.
